The Joker pays a visit to Metropolis and literally turns himself over to the police just so he can meet the one called, Superman. With five children missing and unsure how to handle the situation, the District Attorney decides to give the Joker what he wants and calls in Superman so speak with him. ~~~ATTENTION!!! Here is a CapedWonder.com exclusive Superman II video premiere of Lois Lane jumping out of the Daily Planet window, and a message from Selutron sent to Jim Bowers on May 8, 2012: “This was a clip where the limitations of working with pre-cut material were pretty daunting. I started this back in the day, but never really finished it in any meaningful way and thus, never gave it to Jim for CapedWonder.com. But I had another look at it (after a multi-year completely Superman-free break!) and sort of polished it up a bit using some ridiculous methods to extend shots and so forth. It still has a lot of issues, as I’m sure viewers will notice, but perhaps it illustrates, as hopefully the other clips do, that there is more to be squeezed out from this footage. Superman fans may recognize where the “He, he…”woman came from. Oh, and it is Chris Reeve’s voice shouting “Lois!” at the end and no-one else’s as I think it should be… Finally, a heartfelt thanks to all of your CapedWonder readers who took an interest in this stuff! The Centaurs by Winsor McCay A female centaur (a creature half-human and half-horse) enters a clearing in the woods, and picks some flowers. She is soon met by a male centaur, and the two then romance each other. They then seek parental consent for their union. Only a small part of this cartoon survives, about a minute and a half of lovely images by the foremost cartoonist of the the early 20th century. Several of Winsor McCay’s cartoons are considered classics of the art, such as GERTIE THE DINOSAUR and THE SINKING OF THE LUSITANIA, but the draftsmanship and execution of these remnants, along with the Fleischer Superman cartoons, make it the most beautiful animation in the history of the art.
